PESHAWAR: Compensation for victims demanded

By Our Correspondent

PESHAWAR, Jan 12: The Baltistan Students Forum has demanded here on Wednesday that the government should compensate the families of the victims of Gilgit violence.

The students held a demonstration against the killing of 11 people, including six members of a family in riots on Saturday.

The protesting students hailing from Baltistan were holding placards demanding speedy action against those who were responsible for the incident. They demanded of the government to compensate the families of those who fell victims to the riots which broke out after a leader of Millat-i-Islamia Agha Ziauddin got injured in an ambush in Gilgit.

The protesters condemned the Saturday incident and termed it an action which had disrupted the peace of the area. They said that the terrorist wanted to create disharmoney in Gilgit.

They asked the government to investigate the matter and take severe action against those responsible for the violence. The forum also demanded that the government should provide free medical treatment to those who were critically injured in the riots.
